Slide deck generation
Slide deck generation lets users create on-brand slide decks directly from Glean Assistant. When a user asks Assistant to create a presentation, Assistant generates an outline, then builds a full PowerPoint deck using your company's uploaded template.
Users can view the generated slides in Glean, then export to PowerPoint or Google Slides.
Slide deck generation is off by default. To enable it, you must upload at least one slide deck template.
How it works
- A user asks Glean Assistant to create a presentation (for example, "Create a QBR deck for Q1").
- Assistant generates a slide outline in Canvas.
- If slide deck generation is enabled and a template has been uploaded, Assistant builds the full deck using your template's layouts, fonts, and branding.
- The user can view the slides in Glean, then export to PowerPoint or Google Slides.
If slide deck generation is not enabled, users can still generate the outline but cannot generate the full deck. They will see a message directing them to contact their admin.
Set up slide deck generation
Upload a template and enable the feature
Open the admin console
Go to Admin console → Assistant → Settings → Slide deck generation.
Upload a template
Click Upload and select a .pptx file. This should be a company-approved, on-brand template (for example, a QBR, all-hands, or onboarding deck).
Only .pptx files are accepted. Other formats are rejected.
Choose who can use slide deck generation
Select one of the following options:
- Off — Slide deck generation is disabled (default).
- On only for admins — Only admins can generate full slide decks. Use this to test the feature before rolling it out.
- On for everyone — All users can generate slide decks.
Save your changes
Click Save. You cannot save until a template has been uploaded.
Template guidelines
Upload a template that reflects your company's standard branding:
- Use a
.pptxfile with the slide layouts, master slides, fonts, and color palettes you want Assistant to use. - Company-approved templates for common use cases (QBRs, all-hands, onboarding) work best.
- Assistant clones the template's design when generating new decks, so the output matches your brand.
What users see when slide deck generation is off
When the feature is off (the default), users who ask Assistant to create slides will still get a slide outline in Canvas. When they attempt to generate the full deck, they see a message like:
To generate a slide deck, your admin needs to upload a company slide template in the admin console. Please contact your admin to set this up.
