Retrieve Microsoft Teams messages
If Data fetching is enabled for your Teams connector and you have authorized your Teams account, Glean can retrieve supported Teams message links. These requests use your Teams access and remain subject to connector restrictions. This page covers messages, not meeting events or transcripts.
See Set up the Teams connector for connector configuration.
Understand the returned content
The content depends on the type of message link:
- A chat-message link retrieves the linked message, not the surrounding conversation.
- A channel-message link retrieves the thread's root message and available replies. The result isn't guaranteed to include every reply.
Retrieved messages can include the author, timestamp, subject, and reaction information when available. Attachments remain associated with the message they belong to.
Read cards and attachments
Glean extracts these types of attachment content from a retrieved message:
| Attachment type | Content available to Glean |
|---|---|
| Office 365 Connector cards | Summary, text, section facts, and activity text |
| Adaptive Cards | Text and code from top-level TextBlock and CodeBlock elements |
| Linked-file attachments | Attachment names and supported HTTPS links, not the linked files' contents |
Card images, buttons, and nested Adaptive Card elements aren't extracted. Other attachment types may provide a name without readable content.
Troubleshoot rate limits
If Microsoft Teams throttles a required request for the message, Glean returns a rate-limit error. Try the request again later.
If Teams throttles only the request for additional channel replies, Glean can still return the root message and a directly linked reply if those requests succeed. Other replies can be missing.
