MCP_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE

Issue

While you added, connected, or refreshed an MCP server, or set up a connector that uses one, Glean couldn't reach the server, the request timed out, or the server returned a server error (HTTP 5xx).

Resolution

  1. Check that the MCP server URL has no typos, and confirm that the server is running.
  2. If the server is in a private network or VPC, confirm that Glean can reach it through your allowlist or proxy. See the prerequisites for remote MCP servers.
  3. If the server returned an error, check the server's logs or contact the server's provider.
  4. Click Initiate connection or Refresh tools again.

If you see this while setting up a connector in Admin console → Platform → Connectors, Glean couldn't reach the server to load its tools after you clicked Connect, so setup stops at that step. If the setup page asks for a server URL, check it for typos. Otherwise, check the app's status page for an outage. Then click Connect again. For a connector that's already set up, open its Tools step and click Refresh.
