What is Glean?
Glean is your enterprise AI coworker. It connects to the apps and documents your company already uses. It understands who knows what, and helps you find answers, draft work, and move tasks forward without hunting across tools. Search is one of the jobs Glean is good at, but it's just one of many.
What Glean helps you do
People get the most from Glean when work depends on company context. Use it to:
- Find information across connected apps. Locate documents, messages, tickets, and conversations in one place, with results limited to what you already have permission to see.
- Get grounded answers with citations. Ask in plain language and follow the sources, so you can verify what Glean used before you act on it.
- Turn company knowledge into work product. Draft updates, summaries, plans, and follow-ups that sound like your organization, then refine them in the same chat.
- Find the right people and teams. See who owns a topic, who worked on related projects, and who to ask next.
- Work from the tools you already use. Open Glean in the browser, desktop app, browser extension, Slack, and other places your day already happens. You can also use Glean as company context inside supported AI tools through MCP.
Think of Glean as a coworker who has read your company's documents and followed the conversations you can access. It's ready to help with the next step, not only the lookup.
When to use Glean
Reach for Glean when the answer depends on your company's knowledge or connected systems. For example:
- Catch up on what changed for a project or customer, then list what you need to do next.
- Summarize a long document or thread and turn the decisions into a team update.
- Onboard to a new team: get the context, documents, and people you should know first.
- Compare approaches discussed in internal docs and recommend one.
- Find who owns a process, policy, or system, and what they last said about it.
- Confirm whether a document is still accurate before you share it.
If you only use Glean to look up a file, you are using a small part of what it can do. Start with the work you need to finish, then ask Glean to help you get there. For a guided first task, see Start using Glean.
Remember, Glean is designed to support, not replace, human decision-makers. Our systems are not intended to perform high-risk operations, such as evaluating learning outcomes, or performing employment activities (for example, hiring, promotion, or termination).
Who uses Glean?
