Customize the left navigation
Organize the left navigation around the work you use most. You can pin chats, meeting notes, projects, and artifacts, move optional nav items into More, and collapse sections when you need more room.
Understand the left navigation
The left navigation varies based on your organization's rollout, the features available to you, and whether you have content to display. It contains two types of items:
- Nav items are destinations that open a Glean page or feature. Common nav items include:
- New chat: Starts a new conversation.
- Search: Opens Glean search.
- Library: Contains content you create and save in Glean.
- Projects: Opens your projects.
- Meeting notes: Opens your meeting notes.
- Sections group related content within the left navigation. Depending on your organization's rollout and available content, you may see:
- Pinned: Contains Sidebar Pins for chats, meeting notes, projects, and artifacts that you have pinned for quick access. This section only appears when you have sidebar-pinned items.
- Chats: Contains your recent chats. When available, it can also include meeting notes, agent runs, and scheduled runs.
Your organization may also make additional destinations available, such as People or Agents.
Nav items may appear in the left navigation or under More, depending on your organization's rollout and your access. If a nav item or section doesn't appear, it may not be available in your organization's current rollout, may require a feature or permission, or may have no content to display.
Customize visible items
Use Customize sidebar to choose which navigation items appear in the left navigation.
- Open the left navigation options under More.
- Select Customize sidebar.
- Toggle available navigation items on or off.
- Close the dialog to save your changes.
Which items are available depends on your organization's rollout and your access. Your admin can set the default nav items for people who have not customized their left navigation. Your choices override those defaults. See Set left navigation defaults.
Nav items you turn off remain available under More. You cannot move items that must remain in the left navigation. The dialog only shows items that are available to you.
Collapse sections
Click Pinned or Chats to collapse or expand that section. Collapsing a section hides its contents but keeps the section header in place. You cannot hide these sections entirely. Glean remembers your choices and syncs them across devices.
Use the collapsed navigation
Collapse the left navigation when you need more room. Hover over an icon to see the items in that section.
Pin work for quick access
Pin a chat, meeting note, project, or artifact to move it into the Pinned section.
- Open the chat, meeting note, project, or artifact.
- Open its options menu.
- Select Pin.
You can also click the Pin icon in the left nav for each item.
To remove an item from Pinned, either open its options menu and select Unpin, or select it under Pinned and click its unpin icon. The item returns to its original section.
Limitations
You cannot customize the left navigation in the mobile app.
