Extension Sidebar
Glean browser extension sidebar
The Glean browser extension sidebar enhances your research and discovery capabilities directly within your web browser on both indexed and unindexed web pages. It consolidates essential functionalities into an interface accessible via keyboard shortcuts or the Glean icon. The sidebar features three tabs:
- Chat tab: Provides an AI assistant that uses contextual and company knowledge to enhance research.
- Search tab: Enables searches for relevant content, documents, and experts.
- Agents tab (Beta): Runs AI agents for support workflows on supported pages.
Using the sidebar screenshot
Capture and use content that can't be copied or highlighted on the web page.
-
Screenshot images, non-selectable text, or specific sections from the current page in just a few clicks.
-
Focus on part of a page and bring more content into Glean’s chat and tools.
Accessing the sidebar
There are three ways to access the Glean browser extension sidebar:
- Use the keyboard shortcut: Command + J (Mac) or Alt + J (Windows).
- Click the blue Glean icon on the sticky tab on the right side of the screen.
- Navigate to the Glean extension icon (puzzle piece) in the navigation bar.
Knowledge tools
The content tab provides knowledge tools that enhance your ability to organize and access information:
- Collections: Add or view collections this document is relevant to, helping you organize related content for easy discovery later.
- Go Links: Create or view Go Links to the current page you are on, enabling quick access through memorable shortcuts.
Agents
Agents in the browser extension are currently in beta. The experience may change before general availability.
The Agents tab runs AI agents directly on supported third-party pages. This tab replaces the embedded support integrations previously known as Glean Assist.
Enable agents for specific users
Access to agents in the browser extension can be rolled out in stages. Admins can configure which users receive the feature from the Feature rollouts page.
To give users access:
- Go to What's new > Feature rollouts.
- On the Beta features tab, find Agents in Browser Extension and click Enable.
- For user access, choose Enable for Feature rollouts group.
- Click Feature rollouts group to open the Manage feature rollouts group box.
- In the Manage feature rollouts group box, specify the users who should receive access to the feature.
- Click Save.
- Click Confirm.

If a user opens a supported page and does not see the Agents tab, confirm that their admin has included them in the rollout.
Supported pages
Agents are available on the following pages:
- Zendesk ticket pages
- Salesforce Lightning Case pages
- ServiceNow incident records
- ServiceNow CSM case records
- ServiceNow HR case records
Use agents for support workflows
To run an agent on a supported page:
- Open a supported case or ticket page.
- Open the Glean browser extension sidebar. If agents are enabled for the user, the sidebar automatically opens to the Agents tab on supported pages.
- Select and run the relevant agent. The agent uses the page context to generate results.

Here is the same experience on a Zendesk ticket page:

Migrate from embedded integrations
If your team currently uses Glean in Zendesk, Glean in ServiceNow, or Glean in Service Cloud, use agents in the browser extension as the replacement path. Install the Glean browser extension to get started.
