The chat history search feature lets you search across your own past Glean Assistant chats and agent runs directly from the chat history panel. This helps you revisit earlier threads and pick up from where you left faster. You can search chat threads and agent runs by title.
The current release searches titles only. Message bodies are not searched yet.

Requirements and availability

  • No admin setup required: If your organization has Chat History enabled, chat history search works automatically.
  • Supported across deployments: Available for all supported clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) and with both Glean Key and customer‑managed keys.
  • Your own history only: Chat history search returns threads and runs from your account, respecting permissions and data controls of your organization.
If your organization disables Chat History, or if retention has removed older threads, those conversations will not appear in results.

Searching your chat history

  1. Open Glean and go to Glean Chat.
  2. In the chat history panel, locate the search bar.
  3. Type a keyword from the thread title, for example, the topic or the agent name.
  4. Select the matching thread to open it.
Tips:
  • Use distinctive words from how the thread title appears in your history.
  • If you ran an agent, try including the agent name in your search term.

Troubleshooting steps

  • I do not see the search bar in chat history
    • Refresh your browser tab and try again.
    • Confirm that your organization has Chat History enabled.
    • Check if your thread is outside retention window of your organization.
  • I cannot find a conversation I remember
    • Try alternate title keywords, for example, the project name or a unique phrase you would expect in the title.
    • Verify the conversation occurred under your account and not a shared screen or a different login.

Limitations

  • This feature only supports searching across past chat titles. It does not support searching across chat responses.
