The Microsoft 365 agent action in Glean allows you to create agents that can perform the following tasks directly from within the agent, Glean Assistant, or Glean-powered workflows:

  • Create Microsoft Word documents
  • Create Excel spreadsheets
  • Create Outlook email drafts

Through this integration, responses generated by Glean (such as summaries, tables, or action items) can be exported to the user’s default folder in OneDrive, allowing you to utilize the familiar Microsoft suite for continued editing, collaboration, or email communication.

Usage Examples

  • Exporting Meeting Summaries: After generating meeting notes with Glean, a user clicks “Export to Word,” instantly creating a formatted Word document in OneDrive.
  • Tabular Data to Excel: If Glean Assistant produces a table (e.g., sales data, action items), users can export it into Excel, preserving headings and data integrity, for further analysis or sharing.
  • Drafting Emails: An agent can respond to the prompt “draft an email summarizing this quarter’s results” by generating a ready-to-edit draft in Outlook, facilitating faster communication.
  • Automated Workflow Outputs: Agents that compile periodic reports can output these as new Word or Excel files or queue them as Outlook drafts for review and distribution to teams.

Configuration

In the Agent Builder, select the Microsoft actions by navigating to Select Step > Actions > By datasource > Microsoft 365 > Select Microsoft action.
