Supported Features and Limitations
The Lessonly connector allows Glean to index and provide enterprise search over Lessons and Paths from your organization’s Lessonly environment. Permissions established in Lessonly are respected, ensuring only authorized users can discover specific content.Supported Objects/Entities
- Lessons
- Paths
Supported API Endpoints/Features
- User and group enumeration for permission determination
- Crawling and indexing of published Lessons and Paths via the Lessonly REST API
- Enforcement of Lessonly document-level permissions within Glean search results
- Search and retrieval of learning content through Glean’s interface
Limitations
- Only Lessons and Paths are currently indexed; other Lessonly content types are not supported
- The connector requires an API token; OAuth or other authentication methods are not supported
- Custom or nonstandard Lessonly domains (e.g., those using seismic.com) may not be directly compatible and could need workarounds
- Setup and installation guidance is provided interactively in the Glean deployment console rather than as a traditional step-by-step manual
Requirements
A secure, functioning Lessonly connector requires the following components and conditions to be met:Technical Requirements
- Access to a Lessonly (also known as Seismic Learning) cloud instance that supports API access
- A valid API token for Lessonly, generated with sufficient privileges to read Lessons, Paths, users, and groups
Credential Requirements
- The API token must be generated by an administrator account in Lessonly with rights to access all relevant content and user/group information
- The token is entered in the Glean admin console during setup
Permission Requirements
- Administrator privileges in the Lessonly instance are required to generate the API token and manage user/group permissions
- For optimal results, the Lessonly permissions model should be well-configured so only individuals with appropriate access in Lessonly can see respective content in Glean
Preliminary Source/System Setup
- Ensure API access is enabled in your Lessonly environment
- Generate a new API token using Lessonly’s administrator interface and follow their documentation for token management
External References (if applicable)

Configuration and Setup Instructions
Connector setup is managed through the Glean admin deployment console, streamlining the process for administrators. Below is a summary; for detailed step-by-step guidance, refer to onscreen prompts during deployment.Prerequisites
- A Lessonly instance with administrator access
- An API token with appropriate read permissions for Lessons, Paths, user, and group objects
Authentication and Credentials
- In the Glean admin console, select Lessonly as a new datasource
- Enter the Lessonly domain, as appropriate (the connector assumes a “lessonly.com” domain by default—alternative domains may require additional support)
- Paste in the administrator-generated API token into the authentication field
Step-by-Step Setup
- In the Glean admin console, navigate to Add data source and select Lessonly.
- Generate an API key in Lessonly by following the instructions in Lessonly’s API documentation.
- In the Glean setup screen, enter the API Key you just generated.
- Determine the subdomain of your Lessonly instance. For example, if your Lessonly URL is
https://glean.lessonly.com, your subdomain isglean. - Enter your subdomain into the Subdomain input box.
- Click Save to complete the connection.
- Complete any additional configuration fields as prompted (such as specifying which content to index, if available).
- Validate the connection; if successful, the connector will begin crawling and indexing content.
Permissions & Security
Data and Metadata Ingested
The connector ingests metadata and content for Lessons and Paths, as well as user and group identities necessary for permission enforcement.Permission Propagation Logic: Original Lessonly permissions are strictly propagated into Glean, ensuring compliance with existing access controls in your Lessonly tenant.
