The Glean daily digest provides a summary of relevant information from selected Slack channels and topics, allowing you to receive concise updates on your chosen channels and topics helping you stay informed. This is especially helpful when you are trying to keep track of important conversations and updates in multiple Slack channels you may not be actively engaging with. After you have subscribed to a channel or topic, Glean will automatically generate a summary of the most relevant information from that channel or topic and deliver it to you through a DM at the specified time.

Key features

  • Subscribe to channels, keywords or topics such as competition, my-product and so on in addition to Slack channels so that you can receive targeted daily digests directly in your Slack DM.
  • You can add up to 10 topics and 100 slack channels.
  • With topic subscription, the digest aggregates updates from all the enterprise data sources connected to Glean and not just from Slack which includes documents, emails, tickets, meetings and so on.

Use cases

  • Get daily updates on customer feedback, escalations, or any keyword important to your team or projects.
  • Stay informed about important company-wide discussions, even about the channels you do not actively follow or have not joined. Track mentions of key topics like products, competitors, or initiatives across various systems, eliminating the need to subscribe to numerous channels.
  • If the meeting data source is connected to Glean, get activities about your work areas, even if they are discussed in a meeting.

Configuring Daily Digest

The Glean console admin can manage access to the Daily Digests feature for your organization.
If your organization uses Glean Keys, Daily Digest will be enabled by default.

Prerequisites

  • You must have a Glean assistant license to set up the Daily Digest feature.
  • You must have admin privileges to enable Daily Digest for your organization.
  • The Glean Slack Connector must already be set up.

Admin setup

Perform the following steps to enable Daily Digest for your organization.
  1. Navigate to the Admin console on Glean.
  2. Go to Data sources, search and select Slack.
  3. Under the Glean in Slack tab, select Daily Digest and choose the option as per your requirement to either enable Daily Digest for all teammates or for some teammates.
  4. Click Save Changes.

(Optional) Setting up Slack Canvas

You can setup the Slack Canvas to view the Daily Digest updates in Slack Canvas. Prerequisite
  • Admin access to Slack app.
Steps
  1. Add the following scopes in Slack API → Your App → OAuth & Permissions → Bot Token Scopes.
    • canvases:read
    • canvases:write
  2. After adding scopes, reinstall the Slack app to your workspace so the new permissions take effect.
  3. If Slack shows a scope approval pending or similar error, wait for Slack’s approval of the new scopes before testing Canvas delivery.

User setup

After the admins complete the setup, you can configure the Daily Digest updates as per your requirement:
  1. Go the Glean app in Slack > Home > Manage Daily Digest.
  2. Enter a comma-separated list list of keywords and upto 10 topics you want to subscribe.
  3. Choose your preferred delivery time.
Daily Digest updates daily on weekdays. Monday’s digest will include channel summaries of the weekend.
