Admin Chat is an embedded, admin-focused chat experience in the Glean Admin Console. It helps administrators configure, operate, and troubleshoot Glean using Glean’s public documentation, including the Glean Help Center, Developer Docs, and Gleaniverse content for admins and builders.
Admin Chat is designed for Glean admins and other administrative roles, not end users.
Admin Chat:
  • Serves admins who configure and operate Glean
  • Focuses on setup, configuration, security, governance, data sources, agents, and troubleshooting
  • Uses only Glean’s public documentation; it does not use your private enterprise content or tenant configuration
  • Appears as a floating, resizable widget labeled “Admin Chat” in the bottom-right corner of the Admin Console
If self-serve support in Admin Chat is not enough, it can point you to Glean Support or other appropriate channels.

Admin Chat is designed as a first stop for admin questions that can be answered from documentation. It works best for: Onboarding and setup

How Admin Chat uses your content

Admin Chat is powered by Glean’s public documentation, such as the Help Center, Developer Docs, and Gleaniverse. It does not interact with private tenant data or make changes in your environment. Admin Chat does not:
  • Read your company’s internal documents, emails, tickets, or messages
  • Inspect or verify your tenant configuration, user list, or logs
  • Change settings, enable or disable connectors, or edit policies on your behalf
When you need tenant-specific help or configuration changes, Admin Chat will direct you to the relevant documentation or to Glean Support.

Access Admin Chat

In the Admin Console:
  1. Look for the Admin Chat button in the bottom-right corner with a chat icon.

  1. Select the Admin Chat button to open the floating panel.

  1. If this is your first time using it, you see a short description and a text box with the placeholder “Ask about setting up Glean”.
You can resize the Admin Chat panel so it does not block the page you are working on.

Ask effective questions

To get the best answers from Admin Chat:
  • State your goal. For example: “Walk me through setting up Okta SSO for Glean” is clearer than “Help with SSO”.
  • Mention where you are in the Admin Console. For example: “I am on Glean Protect → Sensitive findings” or “I am in Platform → LLM”.
  • Include important constraints. For example: “pilot rollout to a small group”, “GCP deployment”, or “must follow our internal DLP rules”.
Admin Chat supports follow-up questions in the same panel. You can ask, for example, “Show me the section on attribute mapping” or “How does this differ for Azure AD?” without closing the widget.
Admin Chat conversations are not stored as part of your long-term chat history. When you close the panel, the next session starts fresh.

  • “What should I check if my Google Drive connector is not indexing as expected?”
  • “How can I see when a specific document URL was last crawled and indexed?”
