What Are Shortcuts in Profile Settings?

Shortcuts in profile settings are quick links to websites or pages you visit frequently. They provide easy and fast access to these sites directly from your home page, saving you time and helping you stay organized.

How to Enable Shortcuts in Your Profile Settings

Follow these simple steps to enable shortcuts and start managing them in your profile settings:

  1. Access ‘Your Settings’
    • Navigate to your profile settings by clicking on your profile icon.
  2. Enable Shortcuts
    • Under Preferences, go to the General section. Find the option labeled Show Shortcuts and toggle it On. This will enable the shortcut feature.

Managing Your Shortcuts

Once the feature is enabled, managing your shortcuts is easy. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to the Glean Home Page
    • Go to the Glean home page, where you’ll now notice a small menu with three dots (…). This is the Manage Shortcuts option.
  2. Click on these three dots i.e ‘Manage Shortcuts’
    • When you click on Manage Shortcuts, you’ll be presented with two options:
    • Top Sites: This section automatically displays sites you visit most frequently. If enabled, these sites will appear on your home page for quick access.
    • My Shortcuts: Clicking this option will reveal the ‘Add Shortcut’ sub-tab, which will now be highlighted (previously dimmed). This is where you can manually add and customize the sites you want to appear as your preferred shortcuts.

Adding ‘My Shortcuts’

To add a new shortcut, follow these simple steps:

  1. Click on the ‘Add Shortcut’ option in the My Shortcuts tab.
  2. A small dialog box will appear asking for the name and URL of the site you want to add. Enter this information and click Add.
  3. Once the shortcut is created, you will receive a confirmation message on the screen. The icon for the site will also appear in your home page’s Shortcuts section.

While both Shortcuts and Go Links serve the purpose of providing quick access, they are distinct features. Shortcuts are designed for personal use, offering quick links to frequently visited sites. In contrast, Go Links are a specialized feature within Glean, intended for creating easy-to-remember URLs for company resources. This makes it easier to navigate internal tools and resources.
